Our Journey

In the 1960’s, Alex Fossner and his son Peter left Czechoslovakia to chase the “American Dream” in New York City when their country faced Russian invasion. Being a skilled watchmaker, Mr. Fossner opened Fossner Timepieces on the Upper East Side in 1969. He soon had a large following due to his fine quality workmanship and respected work ethic. Within the following years, his small store became a haven for many great timepieces and other horological works of art from around the world.

Alex Fossner worked in his shop until Peter was ready to take over the business. Peter then met Jeff Morris at a Sotheby’s watch auction in January of 1980 and they collaborated to become J & P Timepieces in 1986, passionately selling fine watches. The Company is now well known around the world, including at Sotheby’s and Christie’s auction houses. Jeff and Peter serve as consultants to collectors, museums, and auction houses worldwide. Both are members of the American IWJG and the European WTF. One or the other can always be found at any prominent watch auction globally.

Jeff and Peter have acquired a broad selection of exquisite pre-owned and new watches including wristwatches, pocket watchers, chronographs, repeaters, perpetual calendars, moon phase movement, and other fine timepieces. J & P Timepieces specialize in vintage and like new brand pieces such as Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Rolex, A. Lange & Sohne, and many other much sought-after brands of today, as well as distinctive styles from companies of days gone by. Simply stated, Jeff and Peter buy and sell the most elite watches in the world. “We enjoy an enviable reputation among our clients, collectors, and competitors for the wide selection and quality of our watches. We supply the world’s finest watches, from brand new items to fully restored vintage pieces at very competitive prices.”
